Life on the farm is pretty straightforward. Get up early, check cows, feed dogs, shower, go to work, come home, feed dogs, check cows, supper & bed. Repeat.
Sometimes that routine is interrupted & the farm isn't the ideallic place most people think of.
This weekend was one of those times. It's never a happy time when you lose a cow. They are like family. The herd grieves. It's made easier simply because you know that she didn't suffer. She wasn't in pain. And we did everything we could to help her.
Unfortunately, all of the experience & medical or veterinary knowledge in the world can't help her when she can't tell you what is wrong.
No words can express the sorrow.
I'm thankful for the support of the family as we all worked together to save her.
The life of a farmer.

Is it really almost February?
Where has the time gone? Did you realize that we are DAYS away from February? What happened to January???
This is the reason why I never even THINK about the whole "Resolution" thing until February. November & December are so rushed & stressful that I need January to catch up & relax a bit. So, since February is almost here, I guess I should decide what I need to change or refresh this year.
Lets see...
I need to do a better job of being a housekeeper.
I need to make better use of those running shoes (after the mud dries up though)
I need to mange time better so that I can have Sundays completely off from everything except church, family & animals.
I need to ride my horse more. My goal is 4 nights a week through the summer and at least once on the weekend otherwise.
We'll see how long this lasts :)
Until later!
